How a first order is built: mixed containers, MOQ and what gets fixed in writing
MOQ 1 applies per unit, mixed containers are allowed, and five things get fixed in writing before production. A practical sequence for…
In our catalogue 150cc and 200cc cargo trikes overlap almost completely on payload — 500–2,000 kg versus 500–1,200 kg. What the extra 50cc actually changes, and what sets payload instead.
A buyer comparing two cargo trikes usually starts with the engine. In our own catalogue that is the wrong place to start: across 66 models at 150cc and 154 at 200cc, the recorded payload ranges overlap almost completely — 500–2,000 kg at 150cc, 500–1,200 kg at 200cc. The extra 50cc changes how the machine drives. It does not decide how much it carries.
We went through the 855 entries published on this site and grouped them by displacement. The picture is less tidy than the marketing on most supplier sites:
| Displacement | Models in catalogue | Payload recorded | Seats | Top speed recorded |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 150 cc | 66 | 500–2,000 kg (36 models with a figure) | 1 | 20–80 km/h |
| 200 cc | 154 | 500–1,200 kg (62 models with a figure) | 1, plus 6- and 9-seat variants | 40–80 km/h |
| 250 cc | 0 | — | — | — |
| 300 cc | 71 | 500–2,000 kg (38 models with a figure) | 1, plus 4- and 6-seat variants | 40–80 km/h |
Two things stand out. First, there is no 250cc step in this catalogue — the jump is from 200 to 300. Second, a 150cc machine in the list carries the same maximum as a 300cc one, because the payload plate is set by the chassis and the body, not by the engine.
Displacement buys torque at low speed, and torque is what you feel on a loaded gradient, at a junction, or on an unpaved road after rain. On flat tarmac with a light load, a 150cc and a 200cc cargo trike drive much the same. On a 12% climb with 800 kg in the box, they do not. The 200cc will hold a gear where the 150cc has to be worked.
Three practical consequences:
When a buyer asks for “1 tonne”, the answer is a combination of five things, and the engine is not one of them:
This is also why two machines with the same number on the specification sheet can behave differently after a year. The sheet records what was ordered; the build records what was used.
We quote from the route, not from the engine. Four questions are enough to narrow a catalogue of this size down to a handful of configurations:
Answer those and the displacement usually chooses itself. Where the answers point at two options, we quote both with the same body and let the freight decide.
Honesty matters more than a tidy table. Displacement is recorded for 358 of the 855 entries; payload for 173. The rest are listed with the fields we hold, and the blanks are confirmed in writing before an order is placed. If you need a specific figure that is missing on a model page, ask — we will check it against the build sheet rather than fill the gap with a guess.
No. It is better where the route is loaded and hilly. On flat urban work the 150cc is cheaper to run and easier to service, and both carry the same body options.
Usually yes, because the body mounts to the chassis rather than to the engine. Confirm the specific pairing in the quotation — some body and axle combinations are only built on one frame.
Because the suppliers we buy from build 150, 200 and 300. We would rather list what exists than invent a step in the range.
